Orthodontic clear aligners allow patients to achieve a beautiful and healthy smile without unattractive brackets, wires, and bands. If it is determined clear aligners are the right orthodontic treatment option for you, here is what your treatment plan may include:
Before we can recommend clear aligners, you must first go through a consultation and evaluation process. If we determine that your malocclusion is severe, we may recommend traditional orthodontic braces or refer you to an orthodontist.
The first step in the treatment process is to take digital impressions of your teeth. Using advanced software, we can plan the movements of your teeth and show you how your smile will appear once your treatments are complete. We will then send your impressions off to the lab that will then craft your clear aligners.
When your clear aligners arrive at our office, we will schedule you in for a try-in session. During this appointment, we will make sure your clear aligners are comfortable and fit correctly. You may feel some pressure on your teeth, but they should still be comfortable to wear for prolonged periods.
To get the most out of your clear aligner therapy, you should wear your orthodontic clear aligners for a minimum of 22 hours per day. This roughly works out to all the times of the day when you are not eating, flossing, or brushing your teeth. You will receive new aligner trays on a regular basis (typically every week or two). If you happen to lose an aligner, please contact our office so we can quickly order a replacement.
This is the fun part. Once your treatment is complete you can now smile with confidence. And, since your teeth will be aligned, you’ve made a great step in promoting your oral health. Go you! Just remember to wear your orthodontic retainer as prescribed to maintain your results (if directed by your dentist).
